For Homecoming 2016 we wanted to highlight the Omicron chapter’s role during World War II. While many people pass by the bronze plaque in the sunroom, how many of us have taken a chance to read the names inscribed on it? Perhaps you’ve wondered who those seven brothers were who gave the ultimate sacrifice serving their country. This year’s theme was about shedding light on our fallen brothers as well as highlighting the role the chapter house played in the war effort.
The overall war effort required that everyone make sacrifices. Due to the influx of Army soldiers being trained at the University, the Omicron chapter house was selected to house those trainees. The chapter did their part, sacrificing their house and suspending chapter operations for three years. The University was also participating in the war effort through training military personnel and conducting classified research. See the displays below for more information.
