Omicron Active Actives Grant Program
The Omicron Chapter of Psi Upsilon, through its Active Actives Grant Program, seeks to accomplish the following goals:
- Recognize and reward Juniors and Seniors for their active participation in house activities; and
- Provide financial assistance to such individuals in their continued pursuit of a balanced undergraduate education and their continued active participation in house activities.
Toward these ends, the Omicron Alumni Association of Psi Upsilon, upon the recommendation of its Executive Board and dependent upon the number of qualified applicants, will make available up to three (3) Grant Awards to qualified, selected Juniors and Seniors for use during the current academic year.
Eligibility
Since the program seeks to recognize and reward significant achievement over a sustained period, the recognition and assistance provided by these awards is limited to upper-division undergraduates. Applications will be accepted from undergraduate members of the Omicron Chapter of Psi Upsilon Fraternity who meet the following criteria:
- Are enrolled as full-time undergraduate students at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign;
- Will enter their junior year, senior year, or final year of an undergraduate program of study next academic year leading to a degree; and,
- Will be enrolled in a full-time, undergraduate course of study on the campus at which our chapter is located, and reside in the chapter house during the period for which grant assistance is awarded; and
- Have signed the Omicron Alumni Association of Psi Upsilon, Inc. Lease Agreement for the next academic year; and
- Since the program also seeks to foster leadership and participation in chapter activities, grants are disbursed to award recipients only while they are engaged in a full-time undergraduate course of study on our chapter’s home campus. Grants will not be made available to award recipients during periods for which they are enrolled in study abroad or off-campus programs.
Awards and Selection of Recipients
The selection of recipients will be based upon demonstrated achievement and active participation in house activities. Awards will include a deduction of $1000 from the house bill during the current academic year. Applicants are not required to demonstrate financial need in order to qualify.
Members are encouraged to apply and shall be given due consideration without regard to race, creed, ethnic origin, gender, sexual orientation, or other potentially discriminatory basis.
All awards are renewable provided recipients continue to qualify under the eligibility guidelines of the program; continue to demonstrate high levels of participation and service; and submit a completed application in succeeding years.
