So named for its position "halfway" up the stairs to the second floor lies the Halfway House. Originally, its use was intended for a butler as it had its own bathroom and closet, but over the years it doubled as a cloak room for the ladies at fraternity functions, and as a guest bedroom as the occasion offered. Today it is a room prized for its unique position and layout in the house.
