Brad Corner ’72 Executive Council – Alumni term member and former Secretary Brother Corner writes: He continues, “My hometown in Illinois was Western Springs, Lyons Township High School(LT). During college my undergraduate degree was an AB in economics graduating in three years in 1971. My Psi U class year is 1972. In 1972 after a year working, I returned to Illinois as an mba candidate.with a postion (assistantship) coordinating short courses primarily at Allerton conference center for the Bureau of business management (BBM). After deciding to accept a sales position with service bureau company on the west coast, my assistantship was filled by another Omicron, and SBCs president was an Omicron class of 1950. “I transferred with SBC from California to Seattle, WA at the end of 1973 and met a neighbor who was the chapter advisor of the Theta Theta. In Seattle I met a lot of Theta Thetas and did some volunteer work with their chapter primarily in the 1970s. They have a great Founders Day every November with 170 -200 brothers (the largest gathering of Psi Us in the World!). “The last 30 years I have worked in the real estate industry in numerous capacities including sales, sales management, brokerage, vice president of a development company, and currently president of a small real estate investment and brokerage firm specializing in the development and disposition of sites and projects in western Washington state.” |

Matthew R. DalSanto ’04I formerly the chairman of the Fraternity’s Alumni Advisory Board. I was the voting representative of the board on the Fraternity’s International Board of Directors or Executive Council. My last two years at Illinois, I served as one of the two undergraduate delegates to the Executive Council. Brothers Corner and Finkelstein encouraged me to continue my service to the international board after graduation, and so that following summer I ran for and was elected Chairman of the Alumni Advisory Board at its annual meeting which coincides with the Convention. Since the summer of 2003 I have been serving in this capacity. As an undergraduate at the Omicron, I served as the Treasurer, President, Pledge Educator, Philanthropy Chairman, Alumni Relations Chairman, and “Dress-Up Dinner” Chairman. My University activities included serving on LAS’s General Education Committee, the Provost’s Tuition Advisory Board, and running as an Independent for Student Trustee. I have many great memories, but one of the highlights was when we invited President Stukel to the chapter house for dinner. He accepted our invitation and we had a great meal prepared by the legendary Eloise and Gussie and an interesting Q&A session. I was also honored to head up the Sam Biardo Memorial Philanthropy for Organ and Tissue Donation for two years. We collected money for the Regional Organ Bank of Illinois and also disseminated information on campus about the common misconceptions of signing a donor pledge and the need to inform family members of one’s wish to be an organ and tissue donor. My three favorite events as an undergrad were my pledge class’s Pledge Dance, our Initiation Night, and our Walkout to the Epsilon Nu chapter (MSU). Since 2003 I have been in graduate school at the University of Minnesota. By October of this year, I will have completed my Ph.D. in Applied Economics and my M.A. in Economics. My research interests are at the intersection of Economics, the Law, and Political Science. While in the Twin Cities, I have had the opportunity to teach both introductory and advanced level economics courses as an instructor or adjunct faculty member at the University of Minnesota, Hamline University, and Macalester College. Though I can’t help but to think my first time really teaching was as pledge educator at Psi U – and it was good practice! My current students occasionally give some of the same excuses. I have also served as a research assistant to Dr. Kent Olson at the “U” where I have worked to analyze various policy proposals on the commodity programs portion of the 2007 Farm Bill. This August I will be moving out to California to begin the J.D. program at UC-Berkeley (Boalt Hall). |
